FAQ

What is the latest Monk Took Book version?
The stable main branch runs build 1.0.3.7 (Hotte Fixxe, October 21, 2026) — which followed the October 17 Ordinary Update (1.0.3.3) that rolled the beta-tested changes to everyone. The public beta branch continues to receive frequent small updates that roll into main once stable.
When did Monk Took Book launch?
September 3, 2026 on Steam PC, published by developer SquarePlay Games. A launch-eve announcement on September 2 confirmed the demo would remain live after launch.
How do I report bugs in Monk Took Book?
Press F1 while playing to file a bug report in-game, per the developer's own hotfix announcement. The studio also invites clips of reproduction steps through its Discord.
Where do official updates appear first?
On the game's Steam news hub, which supports RSS subscription — announcements appear there before anywhere else reliable. This page mirrors them weekly.

What is the latest Monk Took Book update?

The demo was taken down on October 29, 2026 — after almost eight months online, the developer announced it had become tricky to keep the demo build current, thanked demo players for shaping the game, and gave no return date. Steam’s refund window is now the practical trial path (full demo status page).

Hotte Fixxe 1.0.3.7, posted October 21, 2026. A quick follow-up to the month’s big update: the maximum number of books received in normal play now caps correctly per book type — generally to whole-shelf-divisible amounts, so each book type arrives in complete shelf units as you progress. Existing saves are otherwise unaffected. It also fixes a rare null-error crash in co-op, where a host destroying a book by throwing it at a wall while running at low frame rates could break the session.

“Thy Ordinary Update” — October 17, 2026, main-branch build 1.0.3.3. The month’s headline: the changes beta-tested through September all rolled onto the main branch. The highlights — a pixel shader toggle in Graphic Options (for players not into the pixelation filter; existing players should open graphics options to apply it), Steam Offline mode support, a freed cursor in windowed menus, buckets and ladders storable in the hotbar (fight fires and arrange ladders without the inventory dance), and fixes for the occasional book losses through colliders. The developer credits Discord requests for most of it — and repeats the standing invite: join the Discord, take the beta role, file feedback in-game with F1.

The beta branch remains open (since September 15, 2026, starting at Beta 1.0.2.7). The developer set up an opt-in branch for road-testing features before they go live: right-click Monk Took Book in your library → Game Versions & Betas → select Beta. Beta changelogs are posted in the developer’s Discord (feedback in-game via F1), and the beta gets frequent small updates that roll into larger stable main-branch releases — which makes the beta the fastest way to see what’s coming.

Beta 1.0.2.7 bug fixes: books falling through the ground or from the sky no longer persist between runs; shop colliders and item drop heights adjusted so items land on the counter; a pickup time-gate prevents weapons getting stuck in hands unusable; order scrolls are no longer mirror-flipped and support double-digit numbers; cloister pillar repositioned; joining via code is blocked before a server’s scene has started.

Beta 1.0.2.7 improvements: a pixel-filter toggle in Graphic Options (with a performance caveat on lower-spec machines), playable in Steam Offline mode, and improved quill targeting.

Hotfix 1.0.2.5, posted September 8, 2026. The developer thanked players for bug reports and shipped two fixes: selling a perk before buying one in the same session no longer bugs out the sale price, and the Reset/Back buttons on the Remap Controls page now display correctly when reached via the titles options rather than in-game. Note the second one for accessibility setups — remap-heavy players were the affected group.

Hotfix 1.0.2.4, posted September 6, 2026. The developer’s announcement — written, like all their communications, in the monastery voice — fixes books occasionally clipping into the checkout room and getting stuck, calls further collider work “ongoing”, and asks affected players to send Steam recordings or reproduction steps, offering an in-game bug reporter as the channel: press F1 while playing. That a two-person studio shipped a targeted collision fix within three days of launch, and publicly asked for repro data, is the most concrete early signal so far of how post-launch support is going to work — and one of the better data points in our launch-week verdict.

Where do official updates appear first?

Three channels, in order of usefulness. The Steam news hub carries every announcement and supports RSS subscription, which makes it the zero-effort way to catch patches the hour they post. The developer’s Discord (linked from their own announcements) is where reproduction clips and bug-chasing back-and-forth happen. And the studio’s press kit page is the static home for assets and studio information. No official channels replace these — anything claiming patch news that does not trace back here is speculation.

What does this page track going forward?

Weekly: every announcement on the news hub, every patch-note entry into the table above, and the knock-on effects worth their own update — new achievements would land in the achievements guide, balance or difficulty changes in the difficulty settings page, and any demo-content changes in the demo versus full game comparison. Patch notes are also where a two-person studio quietly signals what the next months look like; when they say something about the roadmap, it gets recorded here.
